The total investment amounts to over 200 million Euros. During 2005, the first phase of construction began with the reconstruction of the old drainage lines, which were over 100 years old

Then in September 2006, the second phase began under the responsibility of Morgan Est based in Rugby, England in joint venture with Farrans Construction of Belfast Northern Ireland. This phase of construction which is planned for completion in 2009, involves a 9.5 km long tunnel with a diameter of up to four meters at a depth of up to 30 meters, one pump station and a 9500 m³ stormwater tank. Infrastructure specialists Morgan Est, part of top five construction group Morgan Sindall, is an internationally accredited specialist in tunnel construction and has been convinced of the quality and economic efficiency of SENNEBOGEN machines for many years.

In Belfast, a total of five SENNEBOGEN HD crawler cranes are performing convincing tasks with Sennebogen robust design and flexible capabilities At work there are one SENNEBOGEN 640 HD, two 680 HDs, one 650 HD and one 6100 HD. The machines have capacities from 50 to 100 tonnes and are used for numerous lifting tasks. These include positioning and moving concrete rings for lining the tunnel walls, personnel transport in and out of the tunnel shafts with cage attachments and lifting large containers out of the tunnel shafts. The containers are automatically filled with earth via conveyor belt from the tunnel drilling machines and are then emptied into large collectors on the surface. The new SENNEBOGEN 6100 HD with a capacity of 100 tonnes is responsible for these heavy tasks. Periodically the SENNEBOGEN 640 HD and 680 HD machines are equipped with clam-shell buckets in Belfast and excavate the tunnel shafts.

With load capacities of 30t to 200t and engine variants of from 148 kW to 570 kW, SENNEBOGEN has an extensive crane range with eight different types of machine in the HD crawler cranes range. In practice, they are not only satisfying in the standard applications such as dragline, clamshell and crane work but also at work as very powerful carrier machines. Subterraneous curtain mill, drilling, drawing and ramming equipment is highly complex and, in hydraulic terms, sophisticated special civil construction plant that requires reliable and high-performance machines. SENNEBOGEN has been a successful and recognised manufacturer for this essential species of construction machines for decades.
