SENNEBOGEN 850 R Special ELECTRO in use at Schrott Wetzel in Mannheim
Schrott Wetzel GmbH has been in the scrap-processing and recycling business since the 1950s. In Mannheim, the heart of the Rhine-Neckar region, the company has made professional and environmentally responsible scrap-handling a matter of trust for over 10 years. Today, the future-oriented company has developed into a significant player in this important sector. Professional materials sorting, processing and storage combined with a finely tuned logistics system are the economic foundation for many production methods today. The company provides on-time service to steel mills, foundries and metal smelters with scraps and raw materials correctly sorted and processed - in Germany and the rest of Europe.
With SENNEBOGEN and the SENNEBOGEN dealer Baufahrzeuge Bordt GmbH from Stuttgart, Schrott Wetzel combines a long-standing and highly successful partnership. When the SENNEBOGEN green line material handlers came on the market in 1996, Schrott Wetzel received one of the first machines - an 825 A-Series. Today, many SENNEBOGEN green line machines from the 821 to 870 range work on the Wetzel scrap and metal sites. The machines are all suited for highly efficient material handling and are at work for around 14 hours a day. The handling of scrap puts an immense strain on this machinery. This is where the robust design and high quality of the flawless SENNEBOGEN material handling machines take the lead.
The recently delivered 850 R Special with electric motor is a very special machine. Fitted with a 21 m boom and 1.4 m³ orange peel grab, the 850 is responsible for loading the 2100 t shears. The material towers up to a height of 15 m. Up to 200 t of mixed scrap or railway tracks measuring max. 10 m are handled every hour extremely quietly and efficiently. A special tracks grab is soon to be delivered by SMAG for the railway tracks. Multi-Tool enables the 850 to switch between the attachments quickly and easily.
With the combination of crawler undercarriage and 10 m trailing cable, the 850 provides a considerable operating range and is the perfect solution for this work. "The electric motor was an excellent choice. It is very quiet, easy to maintain, cost-effective and increases the service life of the hydraulic components enormously. It saves time and money for engine maintenance and refueling of the machine," is how Reiner Wetzel, Managing Director of Schrott Wetzel GmbH, explains the reason for choosing the 200 kW power electric motor. A real alternative!
The drivers are also delighted with the quiet machines. The 5 m pylon and elevating cabin provide an excellent all-round view. Plant manager Michael Schmidt agrees: "We have a very good view into the shears. On top of that, the cab is immensely comfortable and solidly mounted." The drivers can only speak very highly about the handling of the 850. "Regarding operation and performance, the machine is really outstanding. Another plus is how robust it is. When working at such heights, it is important to have the appropriate safety. We can work very quietly and with a great deal of control with the 850," Michael Schmidt continues.
Both the management and drivers from Schrott Wetzel in Mannheim are completely satisfied with the new acquisitions from SENNEBOGEN. The machines combine the highest quality with cost-effectiveness, and offer the highest level of working and safety conditions.
