SENNEBOGEN 5500 STAR-LIFTER

SENNEBOGEN 5500 STAR-LIFTER CRAWLER CRANE MAKES AN IMPACT ON THE LARGEST CONSTRUCTION SITE IN BAVARIA

Just a stone's throw away from the SENNEBOGEN company grounds in Staubing is the largest construction site in all of Bavaria. In the township of Plattling, the Finnish paper company Myllykoski is expanding the already existing location of MD Paper for approx. 500 million Euro and is building one of the most modern paper mills in the world right next to it. Myllykoski is a family company with factories in Finland, Germany, Switzerland and North America as well as a world-wide sales organisation. With the commissioning of Plattling Paper, the paper production in the Plattling location is increased to a total of 800,000 tonnes per year, which is used for printing news papers, magazines and catalogues. These expansions will create approx. 130 new jobs in the region and Plattling will be the largest site that the Myllykoski group has.

Construction began in November 2006. According to the construction management, paper production should be able to start in the new plant this year. In order to carry maintain this schedule, all participating companies are working under pressure on the gigantic construction site. The MAX BÖGL Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co. KG located in Neumarkt also has a strong presence in Plattling with six installation crews. The Max Bögl company group is not only included in the top 5 of the largest German construction companies but is the largest private construction company in Germany.

Max Bögl and SENNEBOGEN are modern and innovative family companies that enjoy an excellent international reputation. Competence, experience and maximum customer-orientation characterise the two companies and make them into strong partners for the future. Max Bögl builds progress out of ideas and depends on leading through innovation with SENNEBOGEN machines.

On the large construction site in Plattling, Max Bögl has joined in a consortium with the glass GmbH construction company and is responsible for all production, delivery and installation of the prefabricated parts.

A total of approx. 8,000 finished parts with a weight of approx. 20 tonnes respectively. From February until today, approx. 6,000 finished parts have already been installed, mainly with the SENNEBOGEN crawler crane 5500 Star-Lifter. The highest degree of reliability is required of the machines used here. In the busy periods, approx. 150 finished parts are lifted per day. An enormous challenge for man and machine.

The robust architecture of the SENNEBOGEN crawler crane in combination with superior quality and the most modern technology pay off here. A decisive factor for Jörg Kuchler, the site manager of Max Bögl: "We still haven't had any down-times with the SENNEBOGEN 5500. The machine is completely reliable and never has a problem."

Lattice boom cranes are an inexpensive and intelligent decision on long-term construction sites and when lifting and moving loads at the same time.

When in operation, the SENNEBOGEN 5500 is characterised by its extreme flexibility and mobility even on rough terrain. According to Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Kuchler, the crawler crane is an optimal and very economical solution. "Without the 5500 Star-Lifter, the tight schedule and the fast progress in construction would be impossible. The machine is especially persuasive in the reduced space requirements when working in narrow spaces" according to the site manager.

The different boom variants enable a specific adaptation to the respective conditions and requirements in the area. For construction sites of these dimensions, precise coordination in the configuration between the cranes used is extremely important. With the 24.3 metre main boom and a 35.5 metre fly boom, the SENNEBOGEN 5500 Star-Lifter positions the prefabricated concrete just as competently and precisely as it does the facing, facades, covers and steel parts. A real all-round machine!

This was also confirmed in a conversation with crane operator Hans Wetzel: "The 5500 Star-Lifter is extremely powerful and is ready for work immediately. The machine is intuitive and ergonomic to run. You really feel comfortable in the Comfort Cab." An enormous plus where safety is concerned.

All of these factors make the lattice boom crawler cranes by SENNEBOGEN economical and flexible with their innovated technology. The high capacities on the fly boom, the simple and fast transport capabilities, self-assembly systems and low investment and operating costs guarantee maximum value for the user. Besides the 5500 with 180 metric tons capacity, the range of SENNEBOGEN crawler cranes includes the 4400 Star-Lifter model with a max. lifting capacity of 140 metric tons, the 3300 with 110 metric tons and the 2200 with an 80-metric-ton lifting capacity.
